Founding Partner and Patent Attorney

Experience across patent examination, reexamination, invalidation, administrative litigation and patent strategy.

Ms. Lin is the Founding Partner of Kingsright IP Attorneys, which she established in 2010. Before joining China's National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA, formerly SIPO), she worked as an engineer at a state-owned integrated-circuit factory. She then spent roughly eighteen years at CNIPA — as an editor at an industrial-property research journal, an assistant investigator in the Patent Work Management Department, and an investigator in the Legal Affairs Division handling administrative review and patent legal affairs — before serving as a division-level examiner and researcher on the Patent Reexamination Board, where she managed a large volume of invalidation, reexamination, and administrative-litigation matters and led internal patent-analysis projects. She then practiced as patent counsel at an intellectual-property law firm; her casework included invalidating a design patent asserted by a German bus manufacturer against a Chinese client and representing a major Japanese electronics company in infringement, invalidation, and administrative-litigation proceedings concerning printer ink-cartridge patents in 2008 and 2009. Qualified as a Chinese patent attorney in 2005 and appointed a judicial and forensic intellectual-property expert in 2009, she is the author and co-author of several books and papers on patent strategy and patent law published between 1991 and 2010, and practices in Chinese and English.

BSc in semiconductor physics and devices, Sichuan University.

Postgraduate program in international economic law (intellectual-property focus), Peking University.

Qualifications

Qualified as a Chinese patent attorney in 2005; appointed a judicial and forensic intellectual-property expert in 2009.
