Partner and Patent Attorney

Patent counsel across drafting and prosecution, invalidation, infringement and validity analysis, and technical support in patent disputes.

Mr. Tan has practiced in intellectual property since 2008, as patent attorney and partner at Panawell & Partners before joining Kingsright in 2019. His practice spans patent drafting, prosecution, reexamination, invalidation and litigation, alongside validity, infringement and freedom-to-operate analysis, portfolio strategy and client training. He works across a broad technical range — from computer science, artificial intelligence, big data, e-commerce, AR/VR, autonomous driving and IoT through semiconductors, 3D display technology and automotive and rail transportation engineering to hydraulic systems, turbine engineering, electrical connectors and electromechanical, medical and consumer devices — and his practice has more recently extended into generative AI technology. He has particular experience in patent invalidation and the litigation that follows it, including successfully representing clients in invalidation proceedings brought by major global technology companies concerning multimedia and screen-casting patents. He regularly handles outbound and foreign-filed patent work, managing overseas applications for clients in areas including medical imaging equipment, 3D-vision robotics and glasses-free 3D displays.
